Make TranslucentTB launch on startup
Set the app to open with Windows, including portable installation considerations.
Enable Open at boot
Right-click the TranslucentTB notification-area icon and select Open at boot if that choice is available. Restart Windows to confirm it launches without manually opening the executable.
For a portable package
Windows 11 portable installations need a persistent extracted folder. To start it automatically, place a shortcut to the executable in your personal Startup folder. Do not put the app inside a temporary Downloads archive that may be deleted.
When Open at boot is unavailable
Windows settings or organizational policies may restrict startup applications. Check the Startup apps page and use the project README for supported remediation. Registry changes can have unintended effects and should only be made when understood and authorized.
Avoid duplicate launches
Remove obsolete startup shortcuts before enabling a new method. If multiple TranslucentTB instances run, taskbar behavior can become confusing. Start with one install and one startup entry.
Practical checklist before changing taskbar settings
Check your Windows build using winver, record the current taskbar appearance, and verify the downloaded release is intended for your system. Change only one taskbar state at a time. After each change, open Start, maximize a window and check text readability against your wallpaper. If something looks wrong, choose Normal and exit the app before attempting further modifications.
On computers managed by an organization, ask your administrator before changing taskbar or Windows startup settings. Downloading software from an unfamiliar mirror is not a substitute for checking the source, authenticity and file contents.
